As part of the ongoing commitment to inclusive and community-driven research, Transforming Fragilities, Inc. (TFI) conducted a Field Teams Orientation Workshop on July 14โ15, 2025, in Sulu. This training is part of the broader research effort supported by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), focusing on the lived experiences of Sama Women in both Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces.
The orientation brought together field researchers, coordinators, and local partners to strengthen their readiness for in-depth community engagement across three island municipalities of the Province of Sulu: Pangutaran, Banguingui, and Siasi.
The sessions focused on equipping the teams with the right tools and ethical mindset to ensure respectful, participatory, and culturally grounded data collection.
This initiative is part of TFIโs larger mission to create safe, inclusive spaces where marginalized voices can inform policies and programs that directly affect their lives. As fieldwork begins, the team steps forward with a deeper appreciation of the cultural context, ethical responsibility, and the trust placed in them by the communities theyโll engage with.
