Transforming Fragilities Inc. (TFI), along with its partner Tiyakap Kalilintad Inc. (TKI), successfully held two important training events for the project aimed at strengthening the skills of Moro and IP women in early warning and response, as well as community conflict mediation, with essential support from the Womenโs Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and UN Women.
A total of 50 EWER officers and women peace actors from partner municipalities across BARMM and adjoining areas participated in this intensive four-day and two-day learning program. Following a series of community orientations and the election of officers, the project has now begun capacitating the EWER groups through a Training of Trainers on Local Mediation and a Training on Organizational Development and Management.

The back-to-back activities aimed to strengthen the skills and organizational capacities of Moro and IP women peace actors. The Training of Trainers on Effective Mediation Skills enhanced participantsโ ability to apply culturally grounded and legally sound mediation approaches by combining formal Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes with Adat and Sulh principles, inspired by the Shari’a-Atas-Bitiara Model development and implemented by the CMO-ICCAD of the City Government of General Santos City. It also improved their capacity to monitor community stability, document human security indicators ethically, and generate timely, actionable EWER alerts. In addition, the training reinforced womenโs leadership and data-driven decision-making by promoting the principle of Parallel Inclusivity in local mediation processes.

Meanwhile, the Training on Organizational Development and Management supported EWER officers in building the foundations of newly formed community-based organizations through the development of gender-sensitive governance systems, transparent financial procedures, and practical management tools. It further helped EWER Executive Committee members to shift toward structured, strategic planning by setting SMART goals, mapping community assets, and exploring partnership strategies. Participants were also introduced to essential Organizational Development concepts, enabling them to conduct basic organizational assessments and craft gender-responsive strategic action plans for stronger, more sustainable EWER groups.

These back-to-back activities underscore the commitment of TFI, TKI, and our partners to strengthening the role of Moro and IP women as critical actors in conflict prevention, local mediation, community resilience, and overall women, peace, and security (WPS).
