TFI Conducts Participatory OCA with Ha Uman, GEMS

Transforming Fragilities, Inc. (TFI) assessed the Organizational Overall Capacity of ChildFund Partners, conducting a two-day Participatory Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) from September 7 to September 8, 2023. This assessment involved Ha Uman Association, Inc. (Ha Uman) in Midsayap Municipality, Cotabato, and GEMS Heart Outreach Development, Inc. (GEMS) in Pasay, Metro Manila.

Ha Uman became the sixth local partner organization in Mindanao to undergo this assessment, marking the completion of TFI’s visits in the region. Meanwhile, in the Luzon and Visayas regions, GEMS was the second local partner organization to participate in ChildFund’s initiative.

The purpose of this OCA was to identify areas in which local partner organizations, such as Ha Uman and GEMS, can enhance their capacities to make a more significant impact on the well-being and development of children, families, and communities.

TFI, in their role as organizational capacity assessors, evaluated the two organizations across six capacity areas. These areas covered Governance and Leadership, Organizational Culture and Management, Program Development and Management, Partnerships, Networks, and Reputation, Financial Management, Administrative Management and Human Resources. The assessment aimed to provide a holistic view of XSF and FACE’s organizational strengths and areas for improvement, ultimately contributing to its long-term growth and effectiveness.

The Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA), as an integral part of ChildFund Philippines’ initiative, is closely aligned with TFI’s Pillar 2: Data for Organizational Excellence and Track 2: Third-Party Monitoring and Assessment Services, with a particular focus on evaluating the Management and Operational Systems of Community-Based Organizations / CSOs. This alignment with ChildFund’s aims underscores the strategic and collaborative approach of TFI towards fostering the growth and effectiveness of organizations it provides assistance to.
