GENERAL SANTOS CITY โ Strengthening Public Financial Management (PFM) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) took center stage as government institutions and development partners convened for the session โPublic Financial Synergies in BARMMโ on 26 January 2026, at Microtel by Wyndham, General Santos City.

The activity forms part of the Baseline Study on Donor Partner Initiatives and Entry Points for the PPDM Programme, implemented by European Union-funded Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) Programme, with technical support provided by Transforming Fragilities, Inc. (TFI). PFM is one of the three focus areas of the baseline study, providing a platform for assessing system gaps, coordination challenges, and opportunities for strengthened engagement in the region.

The session was facilitated by TFI and brought together senior representatives from the Bangsamoro Government, led by Assistant Senior Minister Abdullah Cusain of the Office of the Chief Minister, together with Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) Director General Engr Mohajirin T. Ali, MNSA. The discussion also engaged key development partners, including the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and UNICEF Philippines.

The session contributed to ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and inform future programming under the PPDM initiative, supporting more coherent and effective public financial management in BARMM.
