Transforming Fragilities Inc. (TFI) and 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐈𝐧𝐜. (𝐖𝐕𝐃𝐅𝐈) are thrilled to announce the launch of their two new publications showcasing their commitment to research and community development.

Authored by TFI experts Elsie Villanueva, Jimmy Dalgan, and Dennis Librado, this study was implemented by TFI as part of the ISWM-CE Adaptation Project co-implemented with 𝐖𝐕𝐃𝐅𝐈, which was funded by the 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 between 2023 and 2024. It examined solid waste management in Cotabato City and the integration of circular economy practices in model urban centers, such as General Santos City, Kidapawan City, and the Municipality of Surallah in South Cotabato Province.

The report highlights the unique challenges Cotabato City faces, with 70% of its area below sea level, and emphasizes the crucial role of the city government and local CSOs in supporting advances and initiatives on circular economy. It assesses SWM implementation, documents community practices, and benchmarks against model LGUs.

Authored by Jovar G. Pantao, senior member of TFI’s pool of experts, this independent evaluation was implemented by TFI and commissioned by the 𝐖𝐕𝐃𝐅𝐈 in 2024. The report reviews the Technical Programme on Education across 28 Area Programs in the Philippines.

Using a mixed-methods approach, the study assesses the program’s performance, relevance, effectiveness, and sustainability in improving children’s learning outcomes and well-being. The findings will inform WVDFI’s future programming and guide their next country strategy.

Both publications have been issued an International Standard Book Number (𝐈𝐒𝐁𝐍) and were published through the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 (𝐍𝐋𝐏) this September. Our next step is to apply for their inclusion in a Social Science Journal.
