Cotabato City, Philippines โ August 16, 2025 โ Transforming Fragilities, Inc. (TFI) successfully concluded a two-day Data Analysis Writeshop on August 13 and 14, 2025, to process and synthesize the findings from the recently completed baseline study for Plan International Pilipinasโ Lanao del Sur Program Area (LDSPA). The writeshop was a crucial step in transforming raw data from surveys, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) into actionable recommendations for the program area.
The writeshop brought together key personnel from TFI and Plan International, including Joel Dizon, Program Operations Manager for Plan LDSPA, and TFI’s leadership team: Executive Director Tommy Pangcoga, Managing Director Judith Joy Libarnes, and their dedicated field team. The collaborative event was designed to be highly participatory, iterative, and output-oriented.
The writeshop’s core methodology combined quantitative and qualitative data review, triangulation, and group analysis to develop distilled findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations for the report. Participants engaged in a structured process, beginning with an overview of collected datasets, followed by field staff sharing insights from their data collection experience. This preliminary data immersion led to thematic sorting and in-depth analysis of both quantitative survey data and qualitative data from FGDs and KIIs. Mixed teams then compared and triangulated findings from both data types.
Building on this groundwork, the second day focused on synthesis and drafting. Breakout groups analyzed high-priority themes and drafted key findings statements, which were supported by evidence from the data. The participants then collaborated in a plenary session to develop conclusions and brainstorm program recommendations. The culmination of the event was the mapping of findings, conclusions, and recommendations onto an outline for the zero-draft report. This process ensured that a clearly documented set of major findings, consensus-based conclusions, and prioritized, actionable recommendations was established.
The baseline study is a critical undertaking for Plan International, as its purpose is to establish a comprehensive understanding of the current situation in Lanao del Sur, with a focus on key child-centered thematic areas such as protection from violence, inclusive quality education, youth economic empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. The findings will serve as a foundational reference for assessing the effectiveness of the program during future evaluations.
