MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR, Philippines โ July 15, 2025 โ Empowering local communities and amplifying the voices of women in conflict prevention is at the heart of the latest collaboration between Transforming Fragilities, Inc. (TFI) and Tiyakap Kalilintad, Inc. (TKI). Both organizations have officially launched a new Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) initiative with a series of community orientations and social preparation sessions in the municipalities of Sultan sa Barongis, Datu Paglas, and Rajah Buayan in Maguindanao del Sur.
The project, titled “Strengthening Moro and Indigenous Peoplesโ Womenโs Capacities in Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) and Community-Based Conflict Mediation,” is a joint effort co-implemented by TFI and TKI. This initiative is part of a larger WPS project led by UN Women and supported by the Womenโs Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF).
The orientation sessions were conducted with members of existing EWER networks in these municipalities to strengthen mechanisms that Tiyakap Kalilintad had previously established. These community members will serve as frontliners in promoting peace, preventing violence, and fostering community resilience. The project’s core objective is to empower Moro and Indigenous women by enhancing their skills, knowledge, and active participation in both conflict mediation and EWER systems.
This project will engage a total of ten EWERs in twelve municipalities across the BARMM Special Geographical Areas, North Cotabato, Maguindanao del Sur, and Sultan Kudarat. Through this initiative, TFI and TKI aim to increase the meaningful participation of women in conflict prevention processes and quick response, aligning with the project’s goal to strengthen women-led and gender-sensitive EWER mechanisms.
