COTABATO CITY, Philippines – July 8, 2025 – The “Capacity Building Session on Child Rights and Protection” successfully concluded at the Paragon Hotel Function Hall, Cotabato City. This session, part of a two-day training organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), brought together key stakeholders from the BARMM government, civil society, and non-governmental organizations to enhance understanding of safeguarding practices related to child rights.
Spearheaded by UNDP, the session aimed to build knowledge and skills specifically focused on protecting children from exploitation, abuse, and neglect in the Bangsamoro region. This initiative is crucial for addressing the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities, ensuring that children’s rights are prioritized in development efforts.
Among the participants was Transforming Fragilities, Inc. (TFI), represented by Princess Balinte, MERL Associate, and Habiba Basaluddin, Program Assistant. Their involvement underscored the commitment of civil society organizations to advocate for the rights and well-being of children in the Bangsamoro region. The successful convening of this session marks a significant step toward institutionalizing robust child protection measures. By integrating child rights considerations into development processes, participants aim to contribute to a safer and more equitable future for children in the region.
