We all have a responsibility to keep the peace and prevent violence. Nothing can justify the use of force or violations of human rights in the name of fighting for what is right, seeking justice, or any promises of a better government.
The International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism is intended to raise awareness of the threats linked to violent extremism and enhance international cooperation. In its resolution 77/243, the United Nations General Assembly declared February 12 the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism as and when Conducive to Terrorism.
